Oscars 2011 - Mark Ruffalo's Lapel Pin

"Making a statement via lapel pin is still very much in vogue.

Mark Ruffalo and a few others donned waterdrop-shaped blue lapel pins to represent efforts to fight for clean water in the face of modern-day energy extraction techniques, which can contaminate nearby water supplies. (The controversy over what's known as "fracking" for natural gas was the subject of the nommed feature docu "Gasland.")

Ruffalo recently co-founded Waterdefense.org with other activists, and said he was motivated "because I live smack dab in the middle of gasland in upstate New York." He found himself "mortified by the conditions people are living in with contaminated wells, and they can't drink water out of their faucets." " - Variety -

Custom pins are a fantastic way to spread the word and raise awareness. They can be personalized with any message that you would like and since they have a lot of exposure everybody will see your message or will know about your crusade.

Most likely, awareness ribbon pins are the most popular ones but actually any cause can be promoted through custom lapel pins.

We congratulate Mark Ruffalo's initiative. Besides his support to the cause, he demonstrated his commitment by wearing the pin in such important event as the Oscars.

Using Custom Lapel Pins To Improve Customer Service In The Hotel Industry

The hotel and motel industry is sometimes very criticized because of the poor customer service they offer.

Certainly, there're many exceptions and probably five starts expensive hotels are in the other spectrum offering premium services but of course you're charged for that.

Check out this article about how a hotel in Tennessee is doing to improve customer service for guests who are running meetings in their premises.

"At the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee they give gold guitar shaped lapel pins to the guests who are running meetings. Every hotel employee is taught that a guest wearing one of these pins is a valued, important client with special needs under the pressure of running a meeting. The hotel employees are taught to respond quickly to these pin wearing VIP’s." - Top2Bottom Blog -

What a great idea! Maybe it should be imitate by other hotels around the country.

These guitar shaped custom lapel pins are definitively fun to wear and they're actually a great souvenir for people who visit this Tennessee hotel.

Lapel pins can be customized to any shape that you would like and there're many styles available to match your specific needs. You can make your pin as special and different as you want!

Reading this story, it came to my mind an idea for restaurants that I think it could be cool. It's very common for people to go to celebrate birthdays in nice restaurants, so, why don't give to the birthday person at the entrance distinctive custom pins, therefore, all the personnel in the restaurant will know and will do an extra effort to give an outstanding service. Besides, for sure birthday guests will feel very special and probably keep the lapel pins as a token and with the restaurant's name on the pin it would work as an advertising tool as well.

Custom Lapel Pins: The Perfect Collector’s Item

Collecting lapel pins is a hobby that many people love and enjoy around the world.

For some collectors it is a way to connect with other people who share the same interest or the same enthusiasm, while for others is more personal and maybe just an individual challenge.

Popular collectible lapel pins are sports pins, olympic pins, flag pins, political pins, Disney pins, etc.

We found this article online about an unusual collection of photos, stuffed animals, lapel pins and much more that is going to be auctioned, but, what make this collection special is that all the items display bulldogs!

For more than 30 years, Sam Seidman, who lived in the Gov. Samuel Walker McCall Mansion in Waltham, Mass., collected all things bulldog. Upon his death two years ago, friends contacted Hampton auctioneer Harvey Webber, of H.G. Webber Antiques & Auctions, to liquidate Seidman's estate.

It took Webber two years to create a catalogue of the more than 1,000 items and prepare them for auction. The auction, held at the Galley Hatch Conference Center on Route 1, began Saturday and will continue all day Sunday starting around 9 a.m. Items range in value from just a few dollars to thousands, Webber said, and include lapel pins, diamonds and table place settings. – Seacoastonline.com

The Wings Society - Using Custom Lapel Pins To Recognize Donors

Women in Aviation International (WAI), is a nonprofit organization devoted to provide networking, education and scholarship opportunities for women who want to fulfill careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.

WAI just launched the program "The Wings Society" to recognize donors. A minimum cumulative $ 500 donation will enroll any person to this program.

"The Wings Society has six levels of participation with the lapel pin becoming more valuable with the cumulative amount of the donation. The levels start with a pearl lapel pin for $500 to $999 in donations and escalate through bronze, silver, gold, platinum and end with a diamond pin for cumulative donations in excess of $20,000." - General Aviation News -

A very important characteristic of this program is that donations are cumulative, so people don't have to make a big donation at once to be part of this, anyone can become a member after they reach the $500 threshold in whatever period of time.

We love WAI program! It will work very well motivating people to donate, they will look forward to get the initial pearl recognition pin and if they have the possibilities to contribute more, they will try to go for the next levels.

On the other hand, these custom made lapel pins are the perfect advertising tool for Women in Aviation International. Donors will feel proud to wear them and other people will see them and know about the program and its goals.

Finally, the idea to name the program "The Wings Society" is wonderful, it gives the program a sense of community or exclusive club that people will be enthusiastic to be part of.

So, if you have a fundraising effort going on, maybe you can get inspired by this idea and add some excitement to your campaign. You don't have to invest a lot of money in gold lapel pins if you don't want to, custom lapel pins offer several options and you can personalize them according to your preferences.

Good luck!

Limited Edition Lapel Pins To Celebrate National College Football Day

This Saturday November 6th is the 7th National College Football Day commemorating the 141st anniversary of the first collegiate game played.

This celebration, observed each year on the first Saturday of November, was created by the AT&T Cotton Bowl to pay tribute to those college students on November 1869 who left a perdurable legacy for our nation.

Since 2006, the chosen recipient organization for this holiday is The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

"The support we have received from these organizations has been phenomenal," said Rick Baker, President of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association. "Thanks to these great partnerships, we have raised more than $50,000 for The V Foundation over the past three years, and we hope to build upon the success and continue to increase cancer awareness and raise money for a great cause." - Memphis Tigers -

This year and in order to celebrate College Football 141st birthday, the AT&T Cotton Bowl has created a special and limited edition lapel pins, which will be distributed nationwide among people involved, like coaches and sports publicists.

Custom made lapel pins are the perfect way for people to show their support by wearing them, moreover, if people wearing the pins are opinion leaders, the impact will be higher and as a result more people will get involved.

Limited edition lapel pins are an amazing idea for this kind of events. Making a custom pin special and exclusive will make people feel honored and more willing to wear them and to spread the word.

Kansa City Chiefs - Using Lapel Pins to Fundraise for the Military

Veterans Day is around the corner and KC Chiefs, a professional football team based in Kansas City, just announced today that they will honor veterans and active members of the military with an in-stadium recognition this Sunday at the game vs. Buffalo. And this is only the beginning, they will lead events and activities until Veterans Day on November 11.

The Chiefs are joining the VFW Foundation (Veterans of Foreign Wars), on the Return the Favor campaign, an awareness and fundraising campaign to honor, celebrate and support active-duty and retired military and their families.

In order to fundraise for the cause, the Chiefs Team Store will be selling Return the Favor lapel pins until the end of November. Fans and people interested can donate also by text or visiting www.returnthefavor.org

For more information please visit KCChief

Once again, lapel pins are used to help a fundraising effort, for sure, donors have a better incentive to give when they receive a beautiful custom pin in exchange and besides that, they can proudly wear them and encourage other people to collaborate.

We applaud KC Chiefs initiative and hopefully they're setting an example for other sport teams or organizations to join the cause as well. Go Chiefs!
